Observation- Waxing Crescent Moon
I had the chance to observe the Waxing Crescent Moon this evening around 9:00 pm. It was during sunset and I could clearly see the moon from the front of my house. I tried to get a good picture of it. I was able to use this observation to help show my parents that the moon rises and sets at different times each day. When I first told them, while casually talking about my class, they didn't believe me. I even showed them the written facts from my text book and they didn't believe me. Then on my way home from class, I noticed where the moon was. It was following the sun. Hence, the moon was setting in the evening. So, I pointed it out to them. I showed them that the sun was setting and so was the moon. They finally believed me. I find it funny that something that should seem obvious is not obvious. We don't look up at the sky that often so we don't notice these things. I didn't realize it until it was pointed out to me but then it seemed too obvious to have missed before.
